Introducing Family Fun For Everyone!

Written on

I’m here to introduce you to EE Originals’ newest game, Pick Up Locks. It’s a fun, family matching game that has a twist.

As a mother of two young daughters, my home is filled with all kinds of bright and colorful toys and games. We have several matching and memory games that we have collected over time. They are well-loved by my kids, and have been played many, many times (and also been taste tested by my youngest!).

With most memory games, they can get a little repetitive because you play the same way every time. What is special about Pick Up Locks is it promotes additional observation, analysis, and conversational skills from your kids. When you are searching for a match, unlike traditional memory games where you are looking for two identical tiles, Pick Up Locks looks for a lock and a key.

The game features all kinds of locks and keys, from the more traditional safes and padlocks to modern facial recognition and cellphone passcodes. The tiles have bold eye-catching designs on brightly colored patterned backgrounds that are sure to appeal to children.

Kids tend to pick up on things quickly, especially through repetition. What’s great about Pick Up Locks is that you can tailor the game to your child. You can look for different attributes on the tiles or increase difficulty as your little ones skills progress.

In addition to playing the basic rules of the game, here are some suggestions for ways you can promote your child’s development and thinking:

  • Have your child look for tiles that include numbers, and have them verbalize them.
  • Ask your child what each key/lock is for and where they might find one in real life.
  • Assign a color to each child and have them only collect that color.
  • Simplify the game for younger children by matching by shape, color, or pattern only.
  • Create a tile scavenger hunt around your home by placing them next to real examples of keys and locks.
  • Cut out of paper shapes that match the shapes in the game (square, triangle, star, heart, circle and diamond). When a pair is won, place it on the corresponding paper shape.

For even more ways to play, check out the Getting Started page on the Pick Up Locks website. On this page, you will also find a video on how to play.

You and your kids are sure to love our mascot, Paddy the Padlock, who explains all you need to know to begin!

I am so excited for you and your family to play Pick Up Locks, and I hope you love playing it as much as we do. Be sure to pick up your copy here!
